自重轻是轻型钢结构显著的特点。轻型钢结构的承重构件主要采用轻型焊接H型钢、高频焊接型钢、轻型热轧型钢、冷弯薄壁型钢等截面形式,这些型钢截面比普通的工的情况下,轻型钢结构比普通钢结构节约钢材30%以上。一般单层轻型钢结构厂房用钢量为20~40kg/m2,采用冷弯薄壁型钢的轻钢屋架用钢量为15kg/m2以下,轻型钢结构房屋的围护结构采用轻质材料,围护结构和主体承重结构自重均较轻,结构基础形式简单且费用低。
